Unbelievably archaeologists uncovered that popcorn has been around for thousands of years dating back to 3600 BC. Each kernel of popcorn contains a certain amount of moisture and when heated, it turns into pressurized steam (much like a pressure cooker). The hull ruptures rapidly and explodes into an airy crisp puff expanding to about 50 times its original size. So grab a sturdy pot in your well-equipped 15 Bank kitchen as popcorn can be popped right on your stove-top for a healthy treat! See the recipe below to popping the perfect batch of popcorn then curl up on your apartment couch and stream a good movie or two while munching away!
It is a good reason to catch a flick and enjoy this crunchy treat!
Stove Top Method to Pop Popcorn
In a large saucepan, heat 3 Tablespoons of oil (any type you like) over medium heat and do not let it scorch. When hot, add three kernels to the bottom of the pan, cover it until you hear all three pop. Add ⅓ cup of kernels to pan in a single layer and you can add salt at this point if desired. Cover then remove from the heat for 30 seconds and return pan to the heat. It should begin popping. Let a tiny bit of air in and out by lifting the lid a crack to help keep it from getting wet from the condensation. When the popping slows take it off the heat, take the lid off the pan and transfer the popcorn to large bowl. Add cheese, spices, salt and or butter to your liking.
